Poisson d'avril

Everyone, it's April Fool's Day today. Did you do any naughty stuff or something stupid and funny?
Well, I made dinner... yes, fish and chips... Huh? you think that's nothing special? Yeah... it is...

It's not those deep fried fish and chips, but they are made by The World of Sweet and so..., of course, it's SWEET! Look closely, the big yellow eyed fish is a almond milk pudding, the peas are marzipan, and even the chips are sponge cake! Humm..., I have to admit I'm pretty happy with my Poisson d'avril dinner :D

Not only does it look nice, it tasted yummy too, and there was no need for dessert!

Here we are..., happy April Fool's Friday..., done;)

Happy Birthday to my sister and me...

In the beginning of spring, a bit chill day like today, my sister was born and shortly after her arrival, another little one was pushed to this world... that was me...
It was a big surprise to everyone, even to my mum and dad because no one knew that the big monster baby that everyone had thought my mum was carrying were actually twins.

It's been 26 years since then. Although we don't live in the same house anymore, don't share the same sir name anymore (oh, my sis even has a baby now!), I'm very grateful that we can still share the birthday treat together:)

This year, it's a three tier creamy mousse. The smooth little white mountain was destroyed by us in seconds! Happy birthday to my sister & me :D And specially, thanks to my mum and dad.

Pudim de leite

The Latino baking continues.... Today, I made Pudim de leite, milk pudding from Brazil.

This pudding is much more milky and less custardy than the french creme brulee since it's got condensed milk and normal milk in it.

I personally love puddings, and this one was Oooh, YES, sweet spot straight on! So good...

It's a super simple and easy recipe. Be careful not to burn yourself when you make the caramel. If the caramel got solid on the bottom of the cup before spreading it evenly, just put it in the microwave for 10 seconds or so to make it runny again. Mixing the milk mixture well is also important, but when you have a baker's best friend, Electric mixer, it's easy peasy:)
